Real Wedding Advice (from Real Brides + Grooms)

Real Wedding Advice from Real Brides and Grooms by Revival Photography www.revivalphotography.com

We love to ask our couples about their wedding day experience, things they've learned, if they have advice for future brides and grooms. Here's some wedding/marriage advice coming from REAL brides + grooms...

“Advice to brides: It will be almost impossible to avoid getting overwhelmed in the planning process. You will wish you had eloped, saved all the money, but it will all be worth it when you put on your dress and you see your man standing there waiting for you, surrounded by all your friends and family. Magic.” — Piper and Dave

"I think that couples need to focus on making the preparation of the wedding day another journey in the relationship. They also need to remember that it is only one day (a significant one of course) in their lives and that the days afterwards are the ones that will really count in the marriage. Have fun creating a day that really showcases you as a couple and enjoy the moment! Let the small things slide because they really won’t matter. Better yet, laugh about them! I forgot to toss the bouquet LOL! The ultimate goal is to marry the love of your life and have the people who mean the most to you both be there supporting you along the way!" - Ashley + Nicholas

"One of my favorite quotes by Robert Fulghum that is quite fitting for me and Dave : “We’re all a little weird. And life is a little weird. And when we find someone whose weirdness is compatible with ours, we join up with them and fall into mutually satisfying weirdness-and call it love-true love.” - Kelsey + Dave

“ We are both music lovers and it was really important to Dylan that we have live music. I took a little convincing because live music is almost always more expensive than a DJ. Once we decided we were going with a band, I decided to send an only slightly creepy Facebook message to the lead singer of one of my absolute favorite bands from Asheville, NC. Let’s just say I got really lucky. I did not think there was any chance the Honeycutters would play at my wedding when I contacted them. I was in shock when we got the contract signed. It took a little pressure off the wedding planning knowing that if nothing else people were going to get to see a really amazing show. Thirty seconds into the first song the dance floor was full and it stayed that way the entire night. The energy from the band and the guests built over the night and I think everyone had an amazing time. If you are on the fence between a band and a DJ, go with the band. That’s a personal opinion but for us it was one of the best decisions we made. ”  — Katelyn + Dylan

“ ...We love spending time with our families, and we were able to do so for the entire week! It truly was a bringing together of the families. The week was filled with so much laughter, tears, and touching moments and we are so blessed to have such supportive and loving families. Everyone really pulled together to make the day as special as possible. Having an intimate wedding allowed for us to really personalize the day with the ring warming ceremony, the creating of the bouquet, having Brent’s sister play and sing during the ceremony, Jillian’s uncle officiate the wedding, Jillian’s sister cook an amazing vegan feast, etc. We were really able to be ourselves, relax, and fully enjoy the day! ”  — Jillian + Brent

Tips and advice from Ariel + Mackenzie: "Don’t worry about every single little detail of the day. If it doesn't have a special meaning to you, you won’t even notice it the day of - plus you’ll be distracted by your new hubby." "Just relax and enjoy it. After months of planning, it goes by so quickly." "Remember what marriage is all about. It is an extraordinary union between man and woman, modeled after the relationship between Jesus Christ and the Church. Consider Ephesians 5:22-32. The relationship between man and wife should be built on the foundation of God’s love, and God’s love is not concerned about material things like if the cake didn’t turn out perfect or if a decoration falls down. So if something doesn’t go as planned, it doesn’t matter. Focus on the significance of the day, and don’t get caught up in the world. You made promises to your new spouse and you now have the opportunity to grow, as one, to become more like Jesus!"
